I'm sort of in the middle of this book. Has something to do with how it got loaded on the iPod. I really love the Jack Palms stuff, really looking forward to Young Junius. This stuff, this is on a whole other level. This feels so real, so authentic. It's like a blend of anecdote, memoir, and poetry. I hate to gush so much Seth, but this collection has some serious depth. There's a real poignancy to the pain, so far it's not just bitterness or full out sad sappiness. I especially enjoy how the environments of the stories are incorporated into the emotion of the stories. What come to mind right of the bat is the garage in "Just This one Thing". As Adam looks over what once held years of growth and development, blasted by an outside force. You can see both Adam and his father's emotional world in burnt yellow lawn, and in the memory of ivy that was taking down the garage. I don't know what hurts you are transmuting into this collection, but you're really speaking to me here. The boy from Belcher

hmm have not
This i have not listened to yet. I got a backlog of other stuff i've been listening too, but i'll give it a try. Always up for something different and the way you describe it I can tell it is different to most of what i listen to podcast-book wise.

my boy!!
David, I love this comment. Don't know how it took me so long to respond. Yep, this is some east-coast, Boston-bred divorced parents sadness on paper. I think there's a lot of us who can relate. It's the way of the 80s for many, other decades too. You're right that there's a lot of me in these puppies and so it's especially nice to get solid positive feedback about them. These were my first (and in some ways) hardest works. Glad to know they've found a good home in your ears. SH
