I think it will be interesting to see what types of people enjoy Seth's work. I am a scientist by vocation and study respiratory syncytial virus infection of the lung. My avocation is genealogy. I love searching for my roots. So I guess you can say I'm a bit of a detective!!!!! What about you?????

Everyone has at least one novel inside. I earn my living as a healh care professional but I have numerous outside interests. Studying human nature is just one of them.

I'm in health care, too: department chair, researcher, and clinician, and I used to teach. I do a lot of nonfiction writing and always approached writing, even research papers, as telling a good story well. I like crime fiction because I like stories that describe people in crisis overcoming their fears and faults to make things right again. And I like the description of fiction as a lie that tells the truth. JWU had me hooked from the moment Jack walks into the diner, page one paragraph one. A lot of my friends, whether they work in medicine, academia, computers, law enforcement, construction, or retail, enjoy Seth's websites and novels.

Ex-programmer, wanna-be teacher
I used to work in IT, programming all day long until I realised that working in an office really wasn't my thing and I had to start listening to my heart. My heart said: "TEACH, silly woman" and so I did. So, at the age of... well... Seth's age, I am starting a new carreer, learning how to teach Dutch and basic computer stuff to adults. And I love it. Yay! My avocation is audio fiction. I love listening to books and certain voices and I very much love the podcasting community. And I blog in Dutch about English audiobooks (and that gives me an incredibly tiny audience). O, and I blog about me in English sometimes.

Alright!!!!!
Now I know who to seek out when I need Dutch translated to english. What is the website for your "blog about me in English".

Teaching is cool!
Yeah, I'm a total fan of teaching. And teachers. I had an inkling that I wanted to teach when I was 21 and it took me about 6 years to get my first class. Now I'm still loving my relationships with my students. Grading? Grading I don't love so much. So cool to see more about who you guys are! Sacha, I've seen your blog in Dutch about JWU! Way to spread it! Seth

I can translate
Mister Scott Sigler said about the same to me, he might have a Dutch character in one of his books and maybe he'll contact me to translate some curses to Dutch. Yeah, I can curse! The question is... can the man pronounce my curses? Ah, my blogs. You can find links to them on http://zacha.eu/ and yes, I do need to blog more often. And what about you, MuchAdo? Have you found interesting family secrets while detectiving (eh, that's not a word is it) your roots?

I play with coffee to pay the bills, or professional Barista. I am also going back to my old life in kitchens part-time starting this Saturday in a new sushi restaurant. I'm a little excited about that as I really like sushi and don't get to eat it near as much as I want to. Also working with a couple of former customers to finalize an idea/concept for a specialty coffee business located in hospitals.

Careful with the knives!
You gonna cook in the sushi restaurant? Sounds good/cool. I'll stop by when I'm in town. Love the hat and the Johnny Cash look. Seriously, when do I get some of that famous coffee? You rock, by the way.

Thank you. The picture is only a small part of another. The whole pic is me delivering a wedding cake: 4 tier covered in White chocolate fondant with pearl dusted roses with red & white roses all around. My email used to be "PastryCowboy" and I deliver all my cakes this way. Also wearing black was my way of protesting this was 1 of four weddings in 5 weeks and none of them were mine. When do you get some coffee? Just email me an address of where I can ship some to you. Also, what method you use to brew the coffee (filter drip, French Press, Cold Press), if you have a grinder and what type (drk roast to light roast etc) or I'll just send what I'm really diggin right now. Using a new roaster that is roasting some phenomenal stuff. Finally got my knife kit back today so now begins the *fun* task of cleaning it and sharpening all my knives. Unless it's serrated, if I can't shave with it - it don't belong in my kit.

Sign Language Interpreter
started out in the field late '80s then inherited a family business. worked in manufacturing prototypes of bearings and other types of metal work. I used bronze, stainless, and even copper when I was doing a small bit of forge work. then I closed the shop and went back to interpreting and have done that since 2000.

Great!
That's so great, that you went back to the thing you love doing the most (although I am asuming that). And it's such great and rewarding work too. It's amazing to see how many Palms Daddies and Mommas love working in the jobs that aid people: teachers and people in health care. Is that the reason why we love crime? Is it because it's so very different to our jobs? And what does Seth, the teacher, have to say about that?

Interesting
How interesting, that you're studying one particular parasite. I had to read about the sandfly on wikipedia and now I know that in 2005 the disease was contracted by at least four Dutch marines in Afghanistan. And I know that it gives nasty ulcers, yuck! Ooh, forensics! That is a cool job. If it weren't for the dead bodies, I'd love to have a job like that because I love solving puzzles. Go for it!

Its a masters I'm doing, so
Its a masters I'm doing, so it is a bit specific - and I agree it is quite gruesome. I'm in the South of France getting feasted on by the sandflies as well, it would be ironic if I got infected... With the bodies I think I'll be ok - I did neuroscience for undergrad and I had to show human brains to first years, which was interesting - just have to forget that it was a person, and now is just matter. Hopefully it should be interesting.

Forgetting they're a person?
Forgetting they're a person? That's probably how I would have to be to do the job. But that is what I like most about Ducky on NCIS. The fact he talks to them as if the body is still a person is part of his charm as a character.

These days I split my time
These days I split my time between doing software development and the occasional polyurea spray coatings job. Work is not the focus of my life any more - if I can pay the bills and afford my other interests then I'm happy. Right now my big interest is learning to fly and build a Van's RV-6 experimental airplane. Beyond that I guess that you should look at my personal web page at ericmarsh.info to get the bigger picture.

Nothing special
Right now i work as a security guard. Pretty boring and pretty much just a job until i can find something better. I took it for the job experience in order to get a higher paying security related job, then the economy tanked and the job i was waiting for disappeared so at the moment kind of stuck where i am. At least it gives me tons of time to read. Avocation as in hobbies? Don't do much but read anymore.
