WIRED UK: Novels by Podcast
Martyn Casserly, awesome all-around dude and podcast listener, just wrote this article: "Novels by Podcast: how to make money from 'free'" which appeared online at WIRED.CO.UK. In it, he talks up Scott Sigler, Tee Morris, Mark Jeffrey, J.C. Hutchins and me, and how we've used podcasting our fiction as a great platform to use free to get our work out on the web.
Here's my quote:
"Nowadays publishers are looking for an author with an audience online," explains Harwood. "They want someone who knows how to market themselves and have built a platform of people willing to listen. The fact is big publishing doesn't have a lot of money to spend on marketing or promotion, so they're now looking to authors to do almost all of that themselves. Sigler, Hutchins and myself are basically the front-line researchers for what works in online advertising for books. We are scientists, the canaries in the caves, the ones who are trying things."
