I don't know... I'm kind of neutral on it. I definitely wouldn't listen before I actually read it. If it was there, I'd download it and relisten at some point, but I've been more focused on reading than listening. If there's something new, and it's only available as a podcast, I'll definitely listen, but if I have a choice, I'll buy the book and read it.
As much as I've enjoyed listening to all the awesome podcast books, in the end, I don't think I connect with the story as much as when I'm actually reading it. Since I started writing, I like being able to re-read certain parts and really chew on them. That's pretty much impossible on an iPod. That said, I'd be all about reading pdfs of the episodes.
It depends on how different it is from the original podcast version. I know its much shorter but did you just cut stuff or rewrite a lot of it? If there was a decent amount of re-writes then i'd definitely like to see a re-podcasting of the novel.
Either way i got a copy pre-ordered so i'm gonna have it to read too.
I'm planning on doing some new fiction starting later this month. I think the overall structure of YJ is changed and much tighter. Should shine a lot of new light in places that were dark before. I think it'll make for a much more cohesive, tighter listen.
This isn't just loyalty here, I really enjoy listening to you read, and I would definitely listen AND read. Plus it's a lot easier for me to introduce your work to other people through the podcast format. To me part of the story is all of the music, the commentary, the story so far. Having just experienced what it's like to chow through a podcast author's written work, there is also something that I quite enjoy about getting the story in an episodic format.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't work on new material or get the crime wav rolling.
i would love to listen to the new edition. i honestly doubt i will actually read the book itself as i am not good at actually reading a book so if you podcast it it would be great to hear. but i do have the book on order(thinking in top 10 or i hope so) so i am able to support you. Keep up the great work!
Actually I am dying to read it, probably wouldn't have the time to listen. It's a lot of work, and the only way I'd say you should do it is if you will use that as a major part of your promotion. Which I imagine you might.
How's that for equivocation?
Gotta say, I love a man with an honest answer!
So we'll see. Depending on how much/if I have time.
But the good news, in brief is contained in the post below--Triad Death Match on the way!
